Reading Journal #2 Amigas Fifteen Candles By Veronica Chambers-September,7,2011

Dear Mrs.Zrihen,

I Just finished reading AMIGA'S FIFTEEN CANDLES By Veronica Chambers. I picked this book because it seemed really nice and i really love realistic fiction. The significance is that its really cool reading about a person who tyred to help a girl live her dream like having a quincenera. The 2 reading strategies i used before reading are I asked myself what do i already know about this book and The next thing i did is Skimming&scanning i looked through to see the title the pictures the back and all the text features. During the time i read i went back and reread some pages to understand what I'm reading and looked through some pages to see if there were words i didn't understand. The 2 reading strategies i used after reading is i asked myself what i read and what i understand and looked through the text features to see them.

The genre of this book is realistic fiction because its like real life but not really. The characters Are Alicia, Carmen,Jaymie, Gaz and Sarita. The setting is Sarita's quincenera and Alicia's house and the office. The time is during the summer. The weather condition is sunny and hot. The exposition is Alicia Carmen Jaymie Gaz and Sarita and its Sarita's quince, Alicia's house and the office. The rising action is Alicia wants to make a quince for Alicia but her mom doesn't want her to.  The climax is that Alicia doesn't listen to her mom and start working on the quince. The falling action is Alicia is doing all she can to make Sarita's dream come true. The resolution is that Sarita gets to have a quince and it all goes well and Alicia and her friends opened a business of helping quicenears be awesome and she is now really really good friends with Gaz. The conflict is that Sarita wants a quincenera but she doesn't know where to start so Alicia tells her ill help you but her mom doesn't want her to start doing those things like open a business of quinceneras, And Man vs. Society.

The tone is Exciting. And the Mood is Excited. The theme is You always have friends for you. the moral of this story is never give up if you think you can do it. the point of view is 1st person. the authors purpose is to show the readers you can do everything you love anytime. The authors prospective is Objective and Bias. My opinion is that the book was very nice and really interesting but there was some words in Spanish so i didn't understand them. My rate of the book is 4/5 because of the Spanish words and i didn't understand them.

                                           Sincerely,
                                             Noy Nahumi

    what were the figurative language?
what were the 10 pictionarys ?
did you ever do what alicia did when she didn't listen to her parents?
if not would you ever do it?
what was your favorite part in the book?
did you think alicia did the right choose of not listening to her parents why or why not?
