Readers Journal #15 Eclipse-By:Stephenie Meyer-December 6,2011

Dear Mrs.Zrihen,

I just finished halfway reading the book ECLIPSE by Stephenie Meyer. I picked this book because i had to read fantasy and also because it was recommended to me and it seemed like a good book. The significance of the book, well there isn't really a significance because its a story, but i think its to respect your parents. The two reading strategies i used before reading was I Skim scanned, i skimmed and scanned the pictures, the title page, and the synopsis, the second strategy i used was i asked myself what do i already know about this book, well i knew that there is a girl named Bella and a werewolf named Jacob and a vampire named Edward. The two reading strategies i used during reading were i went back to some pages because i didn't understand some words, the second strategy i used was i looked at the title page and asked myself if it made sense to me but but it didn't because on the title page they show like leaves or grass and it doesn't make sense to the book. The two reading strategies i used after i finished reading the book was i asked myself what did i understand from the book, the second strategy i used was i looked through the book for text features.

The genre of the book is Fantasy. The characters are Edward, Bella, Jacob, Charlie, Alice, Edward's mom, Bella's mom. The setting is the place and its High school , Edwards car, Bella's house, Edward's house, and the roads. The exposition is are Edward, Bella, Jacob, Charlie, Alice, Edward's mom, Bella's mom and High school , Edwards car, Bella's house, Edward's house, and the roads. The rising action is that Bella was grounded for doing dangerous things and hanging out on school nights, so charlie (her dad) grounded her by she has to stay home everyday as she comes back from school and she has to cook dinner. The climax is when she got accepted to the university of Arkansas and charlie her dad ungrounded her and tells her that she can go to the university.  The Falling action is when Edwards come to her house and says come to my university we can be together. The resolution is when Edward signs Bella up to his university and she gets accepted. The conflict is when Bella is grounded for doing dangerous things and hanging out on school nights. The type of conflict is Man Vs. Man.

The tone of this book is happy, sad, serious, and mad. The mood is Curious, serious, happy , sad , and mad. The theme is to respect your parents. The moral is to never disrespect your parents or you will get grounded. The point of view is 1st person and 3rd person. The pattern of organization is to compare and contrast. The authors purpose is to persuade and entertain. The authors perspective is Edward, Bella, Charlie, and Jacob.

i think the book is really nice but there was a some words i didn't know so it was challenging. There was also some fights in the book so i didn't like it but i think its a nice book and i would recommend it to my friends, i know this book is from a series so i understood what was going on, but i f i had to chose to read it again i wouldn't because its also too long and its sometimes boring.

I would rate this book 7/10 because it was nice but challenging.

                     Sincerely,
                                   Noy Nahumi
