Readers Journal #16 Eclipse-By:Stephenie Meyer-December 13,2011

Dear Mrs.Zrihen,

I just finished reading the book ECLIPSE by Stephenie Meyer. I picked this book because i had to read fantasy and also because it was recommended to me and it seemed like a good book. The significance of the book, well there isn't really a significance because its a story, but i think its to respect your parents, thought it was a good book. The 2 reading strategies i used before reading was i skimmed and scanned, i skimmed and scanned the title page and the synopsis, the second strategy i used was i asked myself what do i already know about the book, well i knew that there is a girl named Bella and she has 2 friends Jacob and Edward. The 2 reading strategies i used during the time i was reading was went back to chapters 16 and 17 to understand what was going on more, the second strategy was the second strategy i used was i looked at the title page and asked myself if it made sense to me but but it didn't because on the title page they show like leaves or grass and it doesn't make sense to the book. The 2 reading strategies i used after reading was i asked myself what did i understand from the book, the second strategy i used was i looked through the book for text features.

The genre is fantasy. The characters are Edward-Bella's boyfriend, Bella-main character, Jacob-Bella's best friend, Charlie-Bella's dad, Alice-Edward's sister, Edward's mom, Bella's mom. The setting is School, Edward's house, and Bella's House and the weather condition is sunny. The exposition is Edward, Bella, Jacob, Charlie, Alice, Edward's mom, Bella's mom, School, Edward's house, and Bella's House. The rising action is when Edward doesn't want Bella to go see Jacob and be friends with him he thinks that he will try to still her, and Edward doesn't like Jacob because Edward is a vampire and Jacob is a werewolf. The climax is when charlie tells Bella to go see Jacob because he was her friend and helped her since day one she came to town. The falling action is when Bella goes to see Jacob anyway and he tells her that he kind of missed her. The resolution is when Edward accepts that she went to See Jacob, so he deals with it.
The conflict is Edward doesn't want Bella to go see Jacob and be friends with him he thinks that he will try to still her, and Edward doesn't like Jacob because Edward is a vampire and Jacob is a werewolf, and the conflict type is Man.Vs.Society.

The tone is excited, disappointed happy and serious. The mood is excited, sad, and happy. The theme is to be respectful. The moral is to always be kind and follow yourself. The point of view is 3rd person and 1st person. The pattern of organization is compare and contrast. The authors purpose is to entertain and persuade. The authors perspective is Bella, Edward, and Jacob.

I think the book was a really good book but it was too long and it was a little challenging, i would recommend it to my friends.
I would rate this book 8/10.
