Title: Should the driving age be raised to 18?

Author: Scholastic.

Source: The New York Times.

The topic of the article is Teen Driving.

The main idea is should the driving age be raised to 18?-stated

The author’s purpose for writing this article is to inform about the pros and cons about the driving age.

The author’s perspective in this article is objective/subjective (biased) because people give their opinions about the article and say what they think about if driving should be raised to age 18.

The pattern of organization of the article is argument and support.

The reason the author chose this pattern for the article to compare if driving would be safer at age 16 or 18, and contrast if driving should be let at age 18.

The text features included in the article are: driving, age 18, safety.

Driving helps by driving 18 year olds to places.

Age 18 helps by giving role model to smaller people

And safety helps by driving.

This article is about (a summary in your own words): This article is about If driving should be raised to age 18 because so many accidents happen around the world with teenagers driving in the night and daytime, and some countries just think people at the age of 16 shouldn’t be driving because they are not responsible enough. So they want to raise the age for driving to 18 so less accidents happen.

The significance (importance) of this article is: to drive carefully because you don’t know if there is a crazy person on the road trying to cut you off, so you need to drive carefully.

What I learned from this article is: To drive safely and not to do tricks on the road.

What I liked about this article: is when they talked about safety and why they want driving to be raised to the age of 18.

What I did not like about it: is when I read about all the accidents that happened and how.

Who should read this article and why: people from age of 14 to adults because It would interest them more.

This article reminds me of…

(text-to-self): This article reminds me of the time I was like 5 or 6 and I was in the car with my grandpa and some 17 year old cut us off and we almost got into an accident.

(text-to-text): this article reminds me of the time my cousin learned for her permit for the test in driving.

(text-to-world): this article reminds me of an accident I saw on the news and it was a 16 year old kid who was driving and he was just coming back from a party at night and he got hurt.
