I just finished reading the book ISLANDS OF THE BLUE DOLPHINS by Scott Odell. I picked this book because i twas recommended to me from my friend and it also seems interesting. The significance of the book is to be kind to others and respect them. The 2 reading strategies i used before reading were i skimmed and scanned i did that to the title cover and synopsis, I also asked myself what do i already know about the book, well i knew that there is a 12 year old girl named Karena left behind. The 2 strategies i used during the time i read was i looked for some text feature, the second strategy is i went back to chapter 1 and 2 to understand the book better. The 2 reading strategies i used after reading were i asked myself what did i understand from the book, the second strategy was I looked for some new vocabulary.
The genre of this book is historical fiction. The characters of this book is the Indians and Karena- the main character. The setting is Pacific Island, and the ship, the weather conditions is rainy and sunny. The exposition of this book is Karena and the Indians. The rising action of this book is when Karena gets left on an island stranded with no food and he tries to survive with getting water and food. The climax is when she finds a ship and it helps her. The falling action is when the ship helps her survive by letting her get cloth, food, and water. The resolution is when to adults find her and let her stay with them. The conflict is when Karena is left stranded on an Island, the type is Man Vs. Nature.
The Tone is happy and sad. The mood is mad, sad and happy. The theme is to always respect others. The moral is to be kind to others. The point of view is 1st person and 3rd person. The pattern of organization compare and contrast. The authors purpose is ti entertain. The authors perspective is the authors, and characters.
